Enpark Receives President of Spain's Asturias Region
Dubai: 17 November, 2008 – The Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK), a sustainable community model for commercial and residential use and a member of TECOM Business Parks, has hosted a trade mission from the Asturias region in Northern Spain as part of its strategy to enhance economic ties between Dubai and Spain.
The delegation from the Principality of Asturias was led by President Vicente Alvarez Areces, and included Graciano Torre Gonzalez, Regional Minister of Industry and Employment; Alberto Puente Antuna, Group General Manager, Rioglass Solar S.A, and Juan Jose Del Campo Gorostidi, Chief Executive Officer, Ideas En Metal S.A.
Receiving the delegation, Ali Bin Towaih, Executive Director of Enpark, delivered a brief presentation on Enpark and discussed potential tie-ups and co-operation with the Spanish companies.
Bin Towaih said:
The Spanish delegation members showed keen interest to enter into tie-ups with Enpark on sustainable development projects. We also discussed economic cooperation between Enpark and the Spanish corporate majors, with an objective to further drive our ambitious green policies.
Energy and environment have become key areas of concern worldwide. As responsible global citizens, we seek an active engagement with countries to facilitate the exchange of know-how on best ways to conserve the existing energy and natural resources.
The UAE’s business-friendly environment and open economy serve as attractive factors for Spain to enhance its economic profile in the region. Trade relations between the UAE and Spain have registered a steady increase over the last few years, growing to US$1.32 billion in 2007 from US$1.13 billion in 2006.
Recently, Enpark also hosted a 13-member US delegation from the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Department comprising business leaders specializing in green building technology and products.
Launched in June 2007, Enpark seeks to act as an enabling platform for sustainable business operations through the integration of eco-friendly policies, standards, education programmes and technologies, while combining environmental, social and economic elements to reflect Dubai’s benchmark for sustainable development.
