CSR Initiatives by Dubai Holding companies
Our member companies not only take part in group-wide CSR initiatives as part of our overall strategic objectives, but also create and develop their own programmes and activities.
Here are some examples of the initiatives undertaken by our member companies.
Jumeirah Group
Madinat Jumeirah turtle rehabilitation unit: a pilot project for sick and injured turtles in conjunction with the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, UK
Tawasul/Reach Out: a programme focusing on environmental education and raising awareness and interest for young people
Oasis Village: Our main worker accommodation offers extensive social and recreational amenities to over 4,500; Dubai Municipality named it Best Labour Accommodation in 2007
Supply-Chain & Logistics Supplier Diversity Development initiative (SDD): this focuses on increasing the number of suppliers who are SME (Sheikh Mohammed Entrepreneurs) businesses from the UAE.

"e-Token": we incentivise employees to use our Community Recycling Centres
Promoting recyclable printer cartridges: we encourage the use of recyclable cartridges in our offices to reduce landfill waste
Green Building initiative: all our buildings will be designed, constructed and operated to the US Green Building Council’s 'Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design' silver guidelines
Energy and Water Conservation Programme: ultra low flow restrictors on washbasins in our properties decreased water consumption by 6.2 million gallons in January and February 2008 alone
Blood donation drives: the drives with Al Wasl Hospital are conducted twice a year in the TECOM Free Zone
Dubai Group
Manzil: we are one of the main sponsors of a non-profit organisation that helps children with special needs
'Little Steps for Safety': Dubai First is leading the push for the first regional road safety campaign for children in the UAE
Dubai Properties Group
Cleaning Up UAE: an annual event in connection with Emirates Environment Group
Blood donation drives: these take place every three months with Al Wasl Hospital and we aim to connect with the Blood Bank in the future

The United Nations Global Compact: we joined the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative and affirmed our commitment to their ten principles.
Our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) manual: requires all companies tendering for our projects to demonstrate they can deliver against our HSE requirements
Standards for worker accommodation: we sponsored the development of these design, construction and maintenance standards for our accommodation; they are also being used as the basis for a proposed UAE-wide specification
Breast cancer awareness: Dubai Healthcare City is a Charter Company for the awareness programme in the UAE; we also encouraged the medical community to direct research towards identifying breast cancer trends
Dubai Recycling Park: we have a waste management and recycling park to service waste from Dubai Industrial City by 2010 and from DUBAILAND@trade; by 2013
Sama Dubai
Annual clean up campaign: Sama Dubai employees and their families help clean up debris from the UAE's eastern coast every year
Our first bi-annual Environmental Responsibility campaign: this raised employees' understanding of sustainable development and involved them in safeguarding and protecting the environment
"The Lagoons": we are developing this waterfront community around 70 million square foot of UAE wetland while preserving it as a nature reserve
Blood donation drives: not only did our employees give blood but we encouraged many other organizations to participate

Arab Business Angels Network (ABAN): ABAN links regional entrepreneurs and angel investors to encourage entrepreneurial ventures and contribute to the region’s economic development
